Take a creative break to find inspiration again

This summer, I did something I never do: I was bored. Voluntarily.
No scheduled posts, no bracelets to adjust, no new creations to post urgently. Just... a break. A real one.

And to be honest: the beginning wasn't easy.

When you're an artisan or entrepreneur, you rarely get the chance to do nothing. There's always something to plan, post, make, adjust... So taking a real break, without planning anything afterwards, is almost an act of resistance. Yet, it's often in these moments that the best ideas are born.

Doubt, mental fatigue and questioning

The first few weeks were filled with many questions. After six years of working full-time on Cybèle Pierres, I asked myself:
Do I still do this with the same desire? Do I still like it as much? Will people forget me if I slow down?

I needed a break, but I was also afraid of losing my rhythm, of not being up to the task anymore. I always have ideas, yes... but sometimes I no longer know if I'm creating for myself or because I know it will work on social media. And that's not what I want.
What I want is to show my bracelets, share about stones, and especially interact with those who love them.

Why taking a creative break changes the way we create

So I planned everything in advance: I announced on Instagram, on the website, in the newsletter... that I was taking a break.
But in my head, I still told myself that I was going to take advantage of it to write articles, write post scripts, prepare for the new season...

Spoiler alert: I didn't do any of that.
I was drained. No energy, too much pressure, too much self-doubt.
So I stopped forcing it. And I did something else.

Getting back to basics

I went for walks. I spent time with my family, with my love. I even spent a week without phone or internet.
It was hard at first... but as restful as possible.

And most importantly, I talked to inspiring women.

  • Camille from Verdy Superfoods reminded me of my beginnings, that fresh and determined energy you have when you create something that comes from the heart.
Her clear vision, her kindness, her way of aligning her project with her values did me good. She helped me, without knowing it, to rekindle that little flame sometimes stifled by routine or external pressure.

  • The Sisters from l'Instinct Minéral, whom I met at the markets in Montalivet and Hourtin. Their way of talking about stones, without ever promising, without ever forcing, deeply touched me. We share the same vision: respect people, support them, propose without imposing. Their expertise is real, their approach is gentle and honest. And above all, their kindness is sincere. You can feel that they love what they do.

These moments calmed me down. They reawakened my creative spirit. Not in "productive" mode, but in gentle mode. Thoughtful. Serene.

An idea that matured slowly

During these weeks of break, an idea kept coming back to my mind: the one that many people had shared with me when answering the questionnaire at the beginning of the year. The desire to create a custom bracelet, by choosing the beads, stones, and energies oneself.

I had always put this project aside. Due to lack of time. For fear that it would be too complicated to manage. And then, with already more than 400 unique bracelets online, I had told myself that it might not be essential.

But the idea didn't go away. It stayed, it matured. And little by little, I started to imagine it differently: simpler, more flexible, more accessible. Today, I am proud to have found a way to offer it, at a fair price, with combinations of 2, 3 or 4 stones, and several possible sizes. All without sacrificing my vision or quality.

It took me time. Reflection, adjustments, many tests. But it was really worth it. And most importantly: I can't wait to share it with those who were waiting for this little personalized extra.

Why taking a creative break can rekindle inspiration

Since this break, I've adjusted my pace.
I set myself schedules. I make time for a movie or a good book. I allow myself not to do everything.

And you know what? It works.

I truly believe that we need space in our heads to create. That boredom, true boredom, emptiness... is sometimes the beginning of something new.

It was during this creative break that I realized how much slowing down could help me refocus on what really matters.

Today, I keep this lesson: I don't need to be everywhere all the time to exist or create something real. Allowing myself regular creative breaks is now part of my organization. I even plan moments without specific goals, just to think, doodle, or observe what's happening within me. It has become a form of self-care that I offer myself.

And you, do you allow yourself to be bored?

If you're an entrepreneur, a creative, a passionate person... and you feel guilty about slowing down: don't wait until you're exhausted to take a break.

You don't need an excuse or a "valid" reason to take a breath. You have the right to simply stop, even if your agenda says otherwise. It's in these moments when we stop running that we finally find ourselves.

The brain needs silence to breathe. Like a stone that you let rest to observe it better, without expectation or judgment. Calm allows what is within us to settle, reorganize, and be reborn in another form. It is often there, in the interstices, that true ideas germinate.

Taking care of yourself means taking care of your creative energy.
The kind that doesn't come from urgency or pressure, but from deep desire, from sincere momentum.

And that, is also a form of magic. A gentle, discreet, but powerful magic.
The one that transforms a moment of emptiness into a vibrant project.

The one that reminds you that you are a creator... even when you are not producing anything.
